Failed project!!! Again!!!
Failed project
Have you witnessed, been part of or maybe even initiated a digitalization project which didn’t meet what it promised? There can be many good reasons for this, and I don’t offer ‘one truth’. However, one thing which is important is the human aspect. This applies to all types of projects. However, I mostly look at digitalization as it offers many great simplicity and automation opportunities.
The human side
A simple way to start a digitalization project is to select some of the employees and appoint them to work on your idea. Then you usually need one or more external partners usually consultants or IT vendors. Then a project organization is established. And then the project begins. Everybody is happy. What can go wrong?
A lot! Is the project somehow being seen as forced upon the organization? Has it been oversold by vendors? Do you have truly independent vendors? Is your organization ready for this? Have the right internal people been selected? Do they have the right mindset? Are they requesting what they already have with only minor modifications? Are they psychological ready for this change? Are they nervous for their future job? Should you hire more qualified person(s)? Are all stakeholders included? And I can continue with much more.
You will benefit from being aware of these aspects from the very beginning to have success. When and how to address it is up to the individual project. But it must be addressed.
I will love to see smiles as in the picture. Wouldn’t you? 😊
